Mammoth Hunters

A baby woolly mammoth unravels mysteries of deep time and reveals bonds that link humanity to these Ice Age giants.

In the summer of 2022, a miner struck more than gold in Canada’s Yukon. A fully preserved infant woolly mammoth that died 36,000 years ago, protruded from the Arctic permafrost, her frozen flesh still pink and green grass in her belly. Mammoth Hunters takes us on a journey back through time as we join five mammoth lovers –– scientists, artists and citizen detectives –– to solve the riddle of these ancient and mysterious animals. Like a puzzle itself, the film blends ecology, history, spirituality and the mystery that is deep time to reveal the bonds that link humanity to these Ice Age giants.
